Kool-Hand Welding and Cutting Heat Shield

The Kool-Hand is what we like to call "Performance PPE" because the superior heat shielding and protection provided by the Kool-Hand unlocks potential performance - by allowing for increased comfort, stability, dexterity and improved perspective when torch-cutting or welding. 

Carbon is the key element (literally) in the construction of the Kool-Hand.  It has one of the highest melting points of any element in the periodic table - which is why it is used in refractory applications such as in foundries and steel manufacturing.  The Kool-Hand utilizes a type of Carbon based material called Carbon OPAN.  Carbon OPAN is a Carbon based Oxidized-Polyacrylonitrile.  It is an incredibly soft, pliable and felt-like material which does not melt, nor does it ignite - and it possesses the highest service temperature rating of any material we have come upon in our testing. 

Carbon OPAN is the only material we have found capable of providing the necessary and sufficient protection and service durability required for the user to brace in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) when torch-cutting or welding with SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding or Stick Welding) - even when compared to many other industrial textiles known for their high-heat service temperatures - like Ceramic, Nomex, Aluminized fabrics or Kevlar.  This is why the six6igma Kool-Hand is constructed from 2 layers of 100% Oxidized Carbon (OPAN) and sewn with a custom manufactured 100% Kevlar (Para Aramid) thread.  To provide you with the utmost in thermal protection and to unlock your performance in torch-cutting and welding.

The Kool-Hand is a consumable.  The service life of the material will vary depending upon the application, the intensity of the service temperatures and the severity of the service application ( i.e. direct exposure to the torch flame, molten metal or slag).

However, this is the one product that I know I could not work without.  The six6igma Kool-Hand shields and protects my hands, increases the life cycle of my gloves and does this all while in parallel increasing my performance.  The six6igma Kool-Hand allows me to do what I would otherwise be incapable of doing - bracing from the HAZ in any position.
